Melanie Fong Chiew Nyen

Melanie has extensive experience in representing pioneers, multi-generational family businesses, and public listed companies in mergers and acquisitions, raising debt and equity capital, and structuring real estate and property acquisitions, both within Malaysia and across borders. Her practice is multifaceted and she is regularly requested to structure acquisition deals, advise banks on financing arrangements, and undertake corporate exercises for listed companies on the Malaysian stock exchange.

Her portfolio includes:

• RM1.3billion reorganisation and divestment of real estate assets
• RM222million acquisition of a state telecommunications infrastructure provider
• RM110million takeover and privatisation of its public listed company and its attendant share capital restructuring
• RM200million GDV mixed-development project
• RM64million acquisition of a private household furniture and RM38million fund raising via irredeemable convertible preference shares
• RM59million scheme of arrangement in the restructuring of a public listed company
• RM55million debt and capital restructuring (including negotiation and debt settlement with creditors) of a public listed company
• AUD33.5million divestment of retail and commercial building in Australia

Melanie is also instrumental in establishing and managing the firm’s practice in Penang.
